今日は凄まじいお天気でしたね。
みなさんは大丈夫でしたか？
今日、心を打たれた出来事がありました。
レインコートを着て、傘を差しながら、片手に高く、薄い雑誌を持って立っている人。
それも、ちゃんと商品が濡れないように、一つ一つにビニールを掛け、大切に扱っている。
こんな天気の中、一生懸命に仕事をしているその姿に、私は強く心を打たれました。
THE BIG ISSUEというものを、知っていますか？
ホームレスの人の社会復帰をサポートする雑誌です。
ホームレスの人が、自分で一冊350円の雑誌を販売し、そのうち180円が収入となります。
その雑誌の表紙には、よくハリウッドスターなども載っていますが、
彼らはこの活動に賛同し、雑誌への出演料は一切もらっていません。
この雑誌・活動の存在、出演者の事実を、私は大学の授業で学びました。
その後、私も力になりたいと思い、
地元で数回、出張先の大阪で1回、買ったことがありました。
いつも買っているわけではなく、今回も2年ぶりくらいに買いました。
今日は、台風の中頑張る販売者さんに、感動したからです。
「一つください。こんな雨の中、大変ですね」私は声を掛けました。
「いやー意外とね、頑張れるもんですよ。なんかね、雨も弱くなったりするし」
前向きで、とても気さくな方でした。
大阪でも「気をつけてお帰りくださいねー！」なんて、優しい一言を頂いたりしました。
無言・無表情でただ薄い雑誌を掲げて怪しそうに見えるかもしれませんが、みんないい人です。
今まで私がお会いしたのは3人ほどでしたが、みんないい人でした。
ホームレスになった理由は、きっといろいろあると思います。
真面目に生きてきたのに、職を失ってしまった人、
不真面目に生きてきて、勝手に社会に不適合になった人。
そんなの自己責任じゃんか、と思うこともあると思います。
でも、過去はどうであれ、道でただ寝てるとかだけでなく、
今こうして頑張っているのなら、それを応援して迎え入れてあげるのが、
心ある温かい社会なのではないかなと、私は思います。

It was a terrible weather today.
Were you ok?
One thing touched my heart today.
A guy who was wearing a raincoat and holding an umblera, was standing with a thin magazine in stomily rain.
He carefully kept his products not getting wet.
I was impressed that he was working harder in this bad condition.
Do you know THE BIG ISSUE?
That is a magazine helping the homeless can be rehabilitated.
They sell their magazines by 350 yen. Then they can earn 180 yen per one product.
Some Hollywood stars apper on the magazine, but they don't get their performance fee at all because they agree with the magaazine's campaign.
I learned about these things at university.
I agreed with them.
So I bought the magazines in my home town, and Osaka when I visited there on business trip.
I don't buy ones every time. This time, I bought one since about two years ago.
Because I was realy impressed with him.
"I'll have one, plese. It's very hard to work in this weather, isn't it?" I asked him.
"Well, not really. Rain sometimes gets weak."
He was positive and friendly.
In Osaka, other guy said to me kindly, "Take care on your way home!"
First impression might be not so good, because their faces are expressionless and they keep silence with just holding the magazines in their hands.
But, they are kind and friendly actually.
I've met three guys. They were kind to me.
There might be some reasons why they got the homeless.
Some people were sincer and working harder, but suddenly lost their jobs.
Others were insincer, and gradually lost their ways.
You may think, that's their own fault.
Whatever they did before, there is more important things now.
That is they are working or trying to work harder instead of lying on the ground.
We need to welcome them with warmly. This is the warm society, I think.
THE BIG ISSUE is world wide campaign.
"A Street Cat Named Bob" was working as well.
Now, this article isn't directly related to Multiculture,
but here is a same theme, seeing things equally.
